About

Abhay Singh Rathore

I write code and care about how it looks. I've been at it since I was 14.

I don't separate design from engineering. Making something simple, whether it's a UI or a codebase, takes more work than making it complicated. Most people skip that work.

I started coding to build one specific app. Never built it. Built everything else instead. I went all-in around 2020, started freelancing in 2022, launched a startup somewhere in between, and shut it down. Still building things.

I work with founders who have a problem, not a spec. If you need someone to build from a list, I'm not the right person. If you need someone to help figure out what to build, I am.

What I Believe

  • 01Ship it. A working thing beats a perfect one that doesn't exist.
  • 02If users need to be taught how to use your UI, the UI is broken.
  • 03Write code like someone else has to read it. They will.

Outside Work

AstrophysicsI read a lot about astrophysics. There's something grounding about how small everything becomes at the right scale. Most problems feel more manageable after that.
FitnessFitness taught me the most useful thing I know, consistency always beats intensity. Showing up on the boring days is the whole game.
WritingI write not to publish, mostly to think. It's the best way I've found to figure out what I actually believe versus what I've just been repeating.
Weird ideasI spend a lot of time on ideas that probably won't work. Half of them are genuinely bad. I like thinking about them anyway, that's usually where the interesting ones come from.
